Become a Judge

MIST Philly is part of a national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering high school students to grow through spirited competition, creativity, and community engagement. Each spring, we host a weekend-long tournament featuring over 30 competitions across academics, arts, spirituality, and athletics — from Quran Memorization to Debate to Fashion Design and Short Film.
What do Judges Do?
Judges are essential to making the MIST experience meaningful and impactful. As a judge, you will:
Evaluate student submissions such as essays, videos, designs, and performances
Conduct live interviews or judge presentations for performance-based competitions
Score entries using official rubrics and provide constructive feedback
Help determine which students advance to the MIST Nationals tournament
Mentor and inspire by sharing your expertise and professional insight
Judge Requirements
Must be 21 years or older
Should have a strong sense of fairness and integrity
Must be detail-oriented and able to follow scoring rubrics
Passionate about uplifting and mentoring youth
No prior MIST experience required
